Cellular & Molecular Biology Letters publishes articles on novel investigations in all areas of cell and molecular biology, and in the fields of biochemistry, biophysics and biotechnology. It encourages the submission of papers on research occurring at the interface of cellular and molecular biology, including but not limited to studies of cellular compartments, the cell cycle and its regulation, cell differentiation, stem cells, cell traffic, signaling, motility, adhesion and division, the cellular membranes, the cytoskeleton, nuclear architecture, and gene expression. The language of the journal is English.

    CMBL publishes:
  1. Research Articles
  2. Communications – short reports on new and exciting results
  3. Reviews – topical reviews and mini reviews as well as full critical reviews on important subjects

MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSION

    CMBL prefers manuscripts that:
  1. Contain original work that has not been published elsewhere in any medium by the authors or anyone else, and is not under consideration for publication in any other medium. This restriction does not apply to review articles.
  2. Are focused on the core aims and scope of the journal. CMBL is a scientific journal publishing fundamental research results in all areas of cell and molecular biology, and also in the fields of biochemistry, biophysics and biotechnology.
  3. Are clearly and correctly written. Manuscripts should contain all the essential features of a complete scientific paper, should be written in a clear, easy‐to‐understand manner, and be readable for a wide audience of biologists.
  4. Are written in English. Manuscripts should be clearly and grammatically written, in an easily readable style, to avoid severe misunderstandings that might lead to rejection of the paper. Please note that authors who are not native speakers of English can receive support in rewriting their contribution in correct English.
  5. Are delivered in electronic format. Manuscripts should be submitted via an online submission system available at www.editorialmanager.com/cmbl Authors should register as new users and then upload their manuscripts along with a covering letter. The covering letter should contain all the important details about the submission: the main author’s full name (submitting author); the full title of the article; the full list of authors; the main email address, contact address, and telephone and fax numbers; the number of attached files; details of any previous or concurrent submissions; the submission area; and recommendations of reviewers.

EXPERIMENTS INVOLVING HUMANS OR LABORATORY ANIMALS

When submitting a manuscript that reports on experiments involving humans or laboratory animals, both the cover letter and the Materials and Methods section of the manuscript must confirm that they have adhered to the legal and ethical requirements of the country in which the study was conducted regarding such experiments.

PEER REVIEW PROCESS

Each manuscript receives an individual identification code after its upload to the system. The Managing Editor then sends it to an appropriate Editor. A submission may be declined by the Managing Editor without review if it is deemed inappropriate for reasons other than scientific merit.
The Editors of CMBL seek advice from experts in the appropriate field. Research articles and communications are reviewed by a minimum of two reviewers, and review papers by at least three. Authors can suggest competent reviewers for their manuscript, but please note that this is treated only as a suggestion. The final selection of reviewers is exclusively the Editor's decision.
The Editors are fully responsible for decisions about manuscripts. The final decision whether to accept or reject a paper rests with them. The author for correspondence receives the final decision, and information about further processing of the manuscript.

REVISED MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSION

When revisions to a manuscript are requested, the authors should return the revised version as soon as possible. If it is the first revision of an article, the authors need to return their revised manuscript within 30 days. If it is the second revision, the authors need to return their revised manuscript within 14 days. If these deadlines are not met and no specific arrangements for completion have been made with the Editor, the manuscript will be treated as a new one and will receive a new identification code along with a new registration date.

FINAL PROOFREADING

Authors will receive a .pdf of the edited version of their manuscript for final proofreading. This is the last opportunity to view the article before its publication. No changes or modifications can be introduced once it is published. Thus authors are requested to check their proof pages carefully against the manuscript within 3 working days and prepare a separate document containing all changes that should be introduced. Authors are sometimes asked to provide additional comments and explanations in response to remarks and queries from the language or technical editors.
